Our Live Liverpool course combines classroom learning with learning outside in ‘real-life’. This gives you the opportunity to explore the city as you practise and improve your English. Our teachers accompany you around the city as you complete carefully designed fact-finding activities which encourage you to communicate with the people of Liverpool.
Recently our Live Liverpool students have been looking at ‘music in the city’ and the Cavern Quarter of Liverpool with Teacher Ricky. The Cavern Quarter covers the area located in and around Mathew Street – the home of the world-famous Cavern Club where The Beatles started their career. The Cavern Club is the heart of Beatlemania in the city and a visit to the legendary club is a must when you come to Liverpool.
There are many musical themed attractions to see to celebrate and learn about music in Liverpool. New for this year is the British Music Experience dedicated to the history of music in the UK. Fans of the Beatles can have the full Fab 4 experience by visiting the Beatles Story Museum, an atmospheric journey into the life, times, culture and music of the Beatles. You can also take a specialised taxi or bus tour around the city to see the childhood homes and significant Beatles tourist attractions.
The Liverpool music calendar continues to grow every year and has something for everybody. The biggest date in that calendar is the Liverpool International Music Festival which is held every August. There is also Liverpool Music Week which has been voted as the ‘UK’s Best Metropolitan Festival’ and Sound City which hosts bands from around the world. If dance music is your favourite style then we have the ‘UK’s Best Major Festival’ Creamfields and we even have the UK’s largest celebration of African culture with the Africa Oye festival.
Here are our students taking a quick break in the Chantilly Beatles Café within the boutique shopping centre, Cavern Walks. At the Chantilly Beatles Café you can see lots of Beatles memoribillia and artwork and our students were listening to the music of the Beatles to answer some of their worksheets from Teacher Ricky.
