Prerequisites
- A good variety and breadth of vocabulary common to academic contexts
- A good level of grammar and vocabulary to create a range of written and spoken academic essays and reports
- An ability to process academic texts to increase grammatical and lexical proficiency
- A capacity to improve academic reading competencies
- A capacity to improve listening and speaking skills for professional use in presentations and seminars
- Knowledge of how to construct, organise and deliver spoken English intelligibly and accurately
- Knowledge of referencing and use a range of library and internet resources effectively
- An ability to research, develop and write for academic purposes.
- An understanding of how to analyse and describe statistical data.
- A noticeable ability to think critically and maintain and develop an academic argument.
- Understand and describe academic theory.
Summary
We accept academic IELTS, IELTS for UKVI (General Training) and CEFR results from applicants to our pre-sessional courses.
The entry requirements for our Pre-Sessional Academic English courses at ESBM are based on your most recent IELTS result (or equivalent) and the English language requirements for the degree course you plan on studying in University.
We accept academic IELTS, IELTS for UKVI (General Training) and CEFR results from applicants to our pre-sessional courses. Trinity Integrated Skills in English (ISE) results may be acceptable for admissions purposes.
If you do not have any of the standard test results you can still apply for our General English programmes and we will provide an in-house English language assessment.
