Everyone experiences first day nerves so we always make sure your first day is informative and enjoyable.
Prior to your arrival you will receive a booking confirmation. This will give you all the information that you will need before you leave home, this includes:
- Your course details
- Your accommodation details and what do to when you arrive
- Confirmation of your transfer (if you have booked one through us)
- A pre-departure pack with lots of helpful information
On your first day you will be greeted by one of our friendly team members who will welcome you and show you where you need to go. You can meet other new students and get to know them over a cup of coffee in our common room.
Introduction and School Tour
Our Director of Studies and Senior Academic Team will give you all of the information that you need to get you started on your first day. You will be given a student handbook, a copy of the social programme and the free support class timetable. They will give you some study tip materials to help you maximise your learning. You will also have a full school tour so that you know where everything is.
You will take a level check test to ensure that you are placed into the correct class. Our Academic Team will sit with you to determine your learning needs and understand your goals. You will also be given a ‘Needs Analysis’ form to fill out and give to your teacher in your first class so that they understand your aims whilst you’re here.
Our fun and friendly activity leaders will show you around Liverpool to get a glimpse of the famous sights and so you can find everything you need. They are always happy to answer any questions that you might have, whether it’s where the nearest post office is or where to find the best takeaway, our knowledgeable staff will be able to help.
Timetables and Textbooks
At the end of the day you will be given your new timetable and textbook ready for starting your first lessons the next day.
First Week Feedback
Here at the Liverpool School of English we value our student’s opinions so we love getting feedback. You’ll be given a ‘First Week Feedback’ form on your first day which we will collect at the end of the week. This is a great way to let us know how you’re getting on and if you’re having any problems. Our Student Services Team is always available if you need anything during your first week or at any other time during your stay.
