Summary

This course is designed for English teachers working with young learners. It will help you develop your  skills and enhance your C.V. On this course you will learn advanced language awareness and theories focusing on young learners. You will develop professionally through discussions and reflection on your own teaching methods. In addition, you will get TKT exam practice tasks and test papers before the final exam.

On our TKT course you can choose to take the Cambridge exam. If you pass, you will receive a recognised international teaching certificate from the Cambridge ESOL Examinations Board. You need to tell us if you want to enter the exam(s) 6 weeks prior to starting your course. Please note that it is only possible to take the exam with us when studying an in-school course. If you are studying this course online you will need to take the exam at a centre near you. Please see the Cambridge website to find a centre.

Alternatively, if you want to teach English as a second language or to deliver specialist subjects such as law or biology via the medium of English in your home country, our Teacher Development Course with CLIL (Content Language Integrated Learning) course is perfect for you.

If you’re a teacher from the EU you can apply for funding to study our TKT under the Erasmus plus programme. For more information about Erasmus plus please visit www.erasmusplus.org.uk

We can offer this course at other times of the year for groups of 10 or more students – please email groups@lse.uk.net for more information.

FAQ'S

Do I have to take the exam at the end of the course?

No, you can just complete the course and still receive a certificate of attendance from the school.  The course is quite centred on the exam so we do recommend it. If you are taking the course online and wish to do the exam you will need to find an exam centre in your home country using the Cambridge website.

Is there a practical teaching element to the course?

No, you do not have to teach any lessons on the course.

Do you focus ONLY on passing the TKT exam?

No, we also have CPD (Continuing Professional Development) sessions on the course which are related to other aspects of teaching, for example using music or technology in the classroom. There are also observations of teachers here at the school to take ideas from to promote discussion and analysis of teaching techniques.

Is the course suitable for Erasmus+ funding?

Yes, the school is registered with Erasmus+ and we have a PIC number. Please see our funding page for more details.

Please note that our British Council accreditation is for the teaching of English so this doesn’t apply to our teaching training courses.
