Our online courses are specially designed to bring Liverpool School of English into your homes. They will help you to develop all of your English language skills including speaking, writing, listening and reading with a focus on functional language and communication skills. Our international classes will support you in achieving your learning aims and help you to develop confidence in speaking English.

The lessons are a combination of teacher led sessions focusing on different areas of the English language including grammar and vocabulary and student group work sessions where you will work with your fellow classmates on a range of different activities. You will be encouraged to participate fully during all sessions to maximise your speaking practice and develop your fluency and pronunciation.

Lesson Structure

Our Online General English course includes 15 lessons of online lessons per week Monday – Friday.

If you are looking for more hours or some English for Specific Purposes lessons you can also add on one-to-one lessons to your programme. These can be studied at a time to suit you. You can also study an Online IELTS Preparation course alongside your General English course. Find out more here.


Our online General English course has 5 levels:

  • Elementary (A2)
  • Pre-Intermediate (A2)
  • Intermediate (B1)
  • Upper Intermediate (B2)
  • Advanced (C1)

Computer Programme

Our online classes are delivered via Microsoft Teams. We will provide you with an account and all the information and support that you will need to use this.

Booking information

You need to book and pay for your course by the Wednesday before the Monday you wish to start. Download our Online Course Registration Form and send to

Your First Week

Before your first lesson on the Monday you will need to use our online English test so that our Academic Team know which level of class you should go into. Please complete this test by the Thursday before your course start date. We will provide you with a student handbook to explain how the course works and any important information you need to know.

You can also add on one-to-one lessons to your package. These cost £45 per hour.


What if I have internet problems during the class?

All of our lessons are recorded and your teacher can provide you with a copy of the recording. We cannot offer refunds if you encounter problems with your internet connection during the lesson.

What if I have an appointment and can’t attend a class?

Just let your teacher know that you will be unable to attend. They will be able to provide you with a recording of the lesson and any homework that you need to complete. Refunds cannot be given for any lessons you don’t attend.

I have recently had to postpone my in-school course due to Covid-19, can I do an online course instead of coming back at a later date?

Yes that is absolutely fine, contact us for more information.

How will I know what level I am?

You need to complete our online test and our Academic Team will use this to place you into the correct level.

What if I find the class too easy or too hard?

You can speak with your teacher about this and they will advise you on the best thing to do. This may involve moving levels if it’s the right thing for you.
