Non-EU Students
As you might be aware, immigration legislation is changing in the UK and students now have to apply under Tier 4 immigration rules. Below is a list of what we require, starting 1st March 2009:

Proof of A2 Level Students are now required to prove that they have a level of English equivalent to level A2 in the Common European Framework. This means all students must show evidence that they are at least elementary level. This means: "The student can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment). Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need." We will be able to accept translated high school certificates stating English course marks or certificates from other language schools to show they have studied at an elementary level or above. This may be changed as the Home Office brings in new regulations later this year.
Application Fee We currently charge a £50 registration fee to all students. In September 2009, this will increase to £60 to reflect the extra charges by the Home Office for issuing visa letters. For students sponsored by their embassy, we require the registration fee at time of booking before we will release any documents. For students paying their own fees, we require a minimum 25% course deposit before we can release any documents.

Please confirm the start date with the student as it will be much harder to make changes to visa letters. We also charge a £10 amendment fee for any date changes to visa letters.

Failure to Enrol
Agents MUST inform the school if students cancel their booking or are unable to enrol for any reason. If Liverpool School of English does not receive any information regarding students who fail to enrol, we are obliged to inform the Home Office.
Homestay Accommodation Homestay accommodation is limited and not suitable for long-term students. Long-term students may be asked to take a room in student residence. Liverpool School of English can help by providing contact details of residences but cannot provide a deposit or act as guarantor. Most residences require full rent to be paid in advance.

We require all students to sign a homestay contract.
