Artists from the city of Liverpool has had more number 1 singles than any other city in the world: More than New York, more than the Motown city of Detroit, more than London.  As well as the Mathew St festival in August, there are two other major music festivals in the city: Liverpool music week and Liverpool Sound City.

There are many music venues in the city, including the Echo Arena for world famous acts such as Coldplay,  Beyonce and Lady Gaga, the mid size (1000 people) O2 Academy and smaller venues where you can see new and exciting musical acts. There is also the Royal Liverpool Orchestra and the Philharmonic concert hall.

The school can recommend places to see music and the social programme includes Jazz, Salsa and Open Mic nights. Of course no trip to Liverpool is complete without visiting the Beatles Story museum or the Cavern club.
