Our General English & Science course is designed and delivered by qualified English teachers and professional scientists. It provides students the opportunity to improve their English skills and to gain hands-on experience using real laboratory equipment. Delivered in conjunction with our partners BioGrad, the course supports university and work experience applications.
The course starts with one week of General English at the Liverpool School of English followed by one week of Laboratory Skills at BioGrad laboratory. It is also possible to extend your study time at the school if you would like more time to improve your English before or after the programme.
Part 1: Studying at the Liverpool School of English
Our General English course is designed to improve all areas of your English language including speaking, listening, reading and writing. Our qualified teachers use the communicative approach and task-based learning to ensure that lessons are dynamic and effective. Throughout the course you will learn and develop your understanding of English grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary.
Part 2: Laboratory Skills at BioGrad
This part of the programme at BioGrad will allow you to work alongside scientists and learn techniques that will support you in further study and in your future career. You will gain valuable insights into working within a laboratory environment in the UK whilst using and developing your English.
BioGrad teach at a very low student to tutor ratio (5:1) so that you are supervised and encouraged throughout your course. Students have the opportunity to design their own experiments and develop independent research skills and gain confidence.
BioGrad have links with many companies who recruit interns and graduates based on recommendations. They aim to inspire students to enter a research career and offer help finding opportunities for your future.
