We have a quiet study area which has books, magazines and the daily papers.
Q. Is there a café at the school?
No, but there are cafés, restaurants and bars conveniently located within one minute's walk from the school. There are two cafes serving international food right next to the school.
Q. Can we receive mail at the school?
Yes, we will be happy to pass on your mail.
Q. Can we send or receive faxes?
Yes, but there will be a small charge to cover the cost.
Q. Is it possible to use the Internet?
"We provide internet linked computers for you to check your emails, to use the Internet and to stay in touch with your friends and family. It is possible to use Skype if the student provides their own headset - ask at the office for cheap options. A wi-fi connection is available in certain parts of the school. Please ask at the school office for the password."
Q. What nationality and ages are the students at the school?
We have students of many nationalities. We have students from Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Most of our students are between 17 and 30 but we have students of all ages.
Q. Do you supply a student discount card?
We can arrange an ISIC card for you. You will need to bring a passport sized photo. It costs £9 but provides many discounts and offers.
Q. How many students do you have at the school?
In the summer we are busy with around 200 students; at other times there are between 80 and 100 students at the school.
Q. What can I do if I want to complain?

Q. I want to come when the Beatles Festival is on. Is this possible?
Yes, we run courses during the time of the Beatles Festival, which is on for three days in August, every year. It is a very busy time so we would ask you to book well in advance.
Q. What qualifications do the teachers have?
All of the teachers are experienced, have a degree or a recognised certificate or diploma in teaching English to international students.
Q. What teaching methods does your school use?
We have a varied approach which focuses on communication. Our teachers use a mixture of conversation, grammar, reading, writing, listening, vocabulary and pronunciation to encourage you to communicate. What you will get in our lessons is a balance of all the skills involved in using a language.
Q. Are we tested when we arrive?
Yes, you are assessed on the first day of a course through a formal test. You are then allocated a class for the rest of the course.
Q. How many levels do you have?
We have 5 levels: Elementary to Advanced.
Q. What if the level of the class is too low or too high?
Our teachers are always reviewing whether you are in the correct class according to your level. Should you be found to be in the wrong level your teachers will discuss this with you and come to a mutually acceptable decision.
Q. How long will it take to improve my English to the next level?
This varies from student to student. Some students may move to another class as they improve or take exams.
Q. Can I take an exam?
Yes, we can enter you for the IELTS exam or for Cambridge exams.
Q. Will I get the certificate at the end of my course?
Yes, you will be presented with a certificate of achievement when you complete your course with at least 80% attendance.
Q. Do I need to buy a course book?
"You will need to have a course book for the duration of your course. The cost of the book is twenty pounds (GBP), available from the school.
A new course book will be required for each new term/level change."
Q. How many students are in the classes?
The classes have a maximum of 15 students. However, there are usually between 8 and 12 students in each class.
Q. What is the timetable?
The standard course is 15 hours of General English each week. In addition to this you can opt to do specialist study for IELTS or Cambridge exam preparation for an extra 6 hours each week.
Q. Are the courses suitable for children?
We have separate courses for teenagers. If you wish to travel with your children or would like information on bringing possible groups from your country, please contact us directly at info@lse.uk.net
Q. Are the courses suitable for complete beginners?
No. We can accept students at a low elementary level. You should have a basic knowledge of English.
Q. I cannot find an exact course I want to study. Can you customise a course for our group of students?
We have set courses. Click here to find out more about our courses. However, we welcome the opportunity to create new and interesting courses. Tell us what type of course you would like to attend and we will customise a course to suit your interests and budget. This is subject to a minimum group number of 10.
Q. How long can I stay?
It depends on you. You can stay from 1 week to 50 weeks per year.
Q. Do you arrange weekend excursions?
We organise excursions to several UK cities such as London and Edinburgh on different weekends. The cost is not included in your fees but prices are very reasonable. Click here for excursion information.
Q. Do you have an afternoon programme? Is it included in the price?
It depends on which course you have booked. Summer School Homestay and Summer School Residential include a full afternoon programme in the price. On other courses activities are optional and there is an extra charge.

Q. How do I register for a course?
"Please complete the registration form and send it to the school along with a GBP 50 non-refundable registration fee."
Q. How do I know if my registration has been accepted?
We will e-mail you within 48 hours of receiving your registration form. We will then let you know how to proceed.
Q. Can I start my course on any day?
"You can start any Monday throughout the year but there are specific start dates for 12 week terms. For these dates, please contact the school.
NB. If you start on a date other than an official term start date, do not expect to start at the beginning of the course book.
Academic year and exam courses have specific start dates. These courses cannot be joined half-way through."
Q. How far in advance do I have to register?
It is best to register as early as possible. We would like at least 4 week's notice in order to place you with the most suitable host family. However it is also possible to register at short notice.
Q. How and when should I pay?
You must pay the registration fee when you send in your registration form. The balance of the fees are due at least 4 weeks before the start of the course. Please click here to read our terms and conditions.

Your course fees must be paid in full at least 4 weeks before your course starts. We will not issue a Visa Invitation Letter until you have paid at least 25% of the fees or your employer has sent us confirmation of sponsorship or you have arranged a payment plan.
Q. How much money will I need per week for day-to-day expenses?
This is difficult to answer, it depends on you! However, generally you will need at least £70 per week to cover travel, food and entertainment.

A small number of our host families have twin rooms and we can arrange this for you subject to availability.
Q. How do I get from the host family to the school?
Your host family will live no more than a short bus ride from the school. All of our host families live in a walking distance from a bus stop and there is a bus stop near the school.
Q. How far away are the host families from the school?
"Most of our host families live in one of the lovely suburbs of Liverpool. All of the families' houses are close to public transport. You will travel up to about 40 minutes to school according to the family you are placed with.
We do not have any host families within walking distance of the school. "
Q. What happens if I don't like my accommodation?
If you have any problems with the host family, we will help you and if necessary, you can change your accommodation.
Q. Are my meals included?
"Yes all meals are made by the host family and included in the cost. You will eat breakfast and dinner with the host family. Please mention any allergies on your registration form.
Lunch (midday meal) is not included. "

Yes, the school is an A rated sponsor on the UKBA list of sponsors.
Q. How do I apply for a visa?
If you need a visa to come to the UK, send us your application form with a £50 non-refundable registration fee. We will send you a Visa Invitation Letter when you have paid 25% of the course fee or sent us a letter from your employer/embassy confirming sponsorship.
Q. If I want to extend my student visa, what shall I do?
We can help you to fill in the application form and send the necessary documents. You can visit the Home Office in East Croydon. You can also extend your visa in your country at the embassy.
